GIVE A SIP

Plastic straws are not recyclable, end up in the ocean, and produce long lasting damage to its inhabitants. So in 2018, WCS wanted to spread the word around NYC about the importance of diminishing plastic pollution to try to influence legislation to pass a ban on single use plastic straws in NYC.

The challenge was that New Yorkers are busy and inundated with messages telling them what to do every day. Many of these messages speak to environmental awareness: save the planet, reduce waste, reduce the human footprint. We needed to set our messaging apart by making it uniquely relevant to New Yorkers’ daily routines and lifestyles. We needed to empower them to take action rather than make them feel like we were taking something away.
